Applications are now invited for a suitably qualified Tuvaluan Citizen to fill one vacant position of an Outer Island Waste Operational Assistant within the Department of Waste Management.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Officer will be based on outer Island and He/She will be assisting the Waste Operational Officer in dealing mainly with all waste management programmes and activities mandated for each island.
MAIN DUTIES & OUTCOMES:
- Assisting OIWOO in developing and designing operations and time charts or schedule charts and waste Operation site plans of the Island.
- Take records of all waste management activities, and programmes on the respectful island.
- Compile and submit a weekly report on waste collection, storage and disposal to OIWOO
- Conducting weekly visits to sites and meeting with field workers and Kaupule responsible member “if” required.
- Day to Day operational responsibility for the delivery of waste, green waste and recycling
- Collections on the island, ensuring that all services are staffed and Operational on scheduled times.
- Carry out and maintain Safe Working Procedures for all waste management ground workers.
- Work closely with Kaupule in reporting and designing site plans for waste operation and disposal for the outer island.
- Assist in waste surveys and questionnaires appropriate for the management of wastes when needed through working closely with operator and security.
- Collect, store and analyze information for all types of waste on the island and report finding to OIWOO.
- Ability to promote and enforce waste by-law on the respectful island.
- Prepare a weekly report of progress and operation of work on the island.
- Assist OIWOO and Kaupule with delivering public awareness programs to communities, schools etc and send a report to WOO.
- Promote and enforce Occupational Health and safety procedures to all field officers during working hours/at the workplace.
- Conduct weekly checkup on equipment and facilities on the island and recommend for any improvement needed.
- And any other task is given or directed by Outer Island Waste Operational Officer
